May 20, 2025

Tara A. Bass, BSN, RN, has been named Director of Cardiovascular Services at Central Carolina Hospital.
A native of Chatham County, Bass received her RN Diploma of Nursing from Watts School of Nursing in Durham, NC, in 2016. She completed her bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Mount Olive in Mount Olive, NC, in 2019.
At CCH, she oversees Cardiovascular Imaging, the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department, which is accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The hospital was also reaccredited by the American College of Cardiology for Heart Failure in 2024 and as a Chest Pain Center in 2023.
Prior to joining CCH, Bass worked as a Clinical Nurse Educator for Duke University Health System in 2022-23. From 2016 to 2022, she worked as Assistant Nurse Manager in the Cardiovascular Procedural Area at Duke University Hospital’s Heart Center. She also served as a Clinical Nurse III in the hospital’s Prep and Recovery Unit during that time. From 2017 to 2019, she served as a member of the Duke Vascular Access Team.
“We are pleased to have such capable leadership in place for our heart program,” said Dave Santoemma, CEO of CCH. “Sanford and Lee County are fortunate to have a cardiac cath lab and a strong cardiac program available close to home. Our capabilities extend well beyond those normally found at a community-based hospital.”
