Imaging
Call 919.774.2157When it comes to imaging services at Central Carolina Hospital, we see all your diagnostic needs clearly. Our radiologists are longstanding members of our medical staff who truly understand your needs.
We offer a full range of imaging services, including MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound and X-ray. Our x-ray equipment allows for x-rays and fluoroscopic studies to be performed in surgery, patient rooms, the Emergency Department and our Intensive Care Unit.
Central Carolina offers low-dose CT lung screening for eligible patients with a history of smoking, as well as bone density testing (sometimes referred to as a DEXA scan).
A bone DEXA scan can diagnose osteoporosis. In fact, it's the most accurate method for diagnosing osteoporosis, a condition that weakens bones and increases the risk of fractures. It can also be used to assess osteopenia, or low bone mass. People who have osteopenia are at increased risk of developing osteoporosis. And it can be used to monitor your bone health by tracking changes in bone density over time to monitor the effectiveness of osteoporosis treatment.
Additionally, we offer genetic testing to evaluate hereditary cancer risk. This simple elective testing is covered by most major insurance plans as well as Medicare and is seldom available at community hospitals.
What’s more, we offer 3-D mammography and breast ultrasound, as well as stereotactic breast biopsies and breast MRI.
