New OB Nurse Rejoins Birthplace As Workplace

Life has come full circle for Tyresha Campbell, BSN, RN. Twenty-nine years after being born at Central Carolina Hospital, she returned this week for her first job as a nurse to help deliver babies at the hospital’s Birth Center.

“It feels great,” Tyresha said of her return to her birthplace as her workplace. “Growing up, I knew I wanted to be a nurse, but I would have never thought I’d be working at the same hospital I was born in. So now, looking back on it, it’s something to tell other people: that great things do happen here, but great people also come from here.”

"I believe in following wherever God leads me," she said. "Right now, he's placed me here, and I know it's exactly where I'm meant to be – especially since I was born in this very hospital. It feels like a beautiful moment, bringing me back to where my story began."

A native of Bunnlevel, Tyresha earned her associates degree from Central Carolina Community College in 2023, then graduated in May with her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Campbell University. She now lives in Benson and will be working as a full-time nurse at CCH.

As part of her training, she completed her preceptorship at CCH in the spring, which is when she decided this was the place for her.

“They are amazing people,” Tyresha said of the Birth Center staff. “I was like, ‘I could definitely be a part of this.’

“I thought about it being a rural place and being able to give back to a community that doesn’t have as many resources,” she said, “that I could be a light to be able to help other people – not just the patients, but the staff as well – and hopefully grow.”
