Medical Nutrition Therapy
Registered dietitians are specially trained, nationally credentialed nutrition experts who provide advanced medical nutrition therapy for both inpatients and outpatients. Our dietitians collaborate with our medical providers to create an individualized treatment plan to manage a variety of medical conditions and nutrition-related concerns.
What services do Registered Dietitians provide?
- A complete nutritional assessment, followed by personalized plan
- Nutrition education specific to patient concerns and conditions
- Monitoring over time for nutritional progress and advice
- Support and resources to begin lifestyle changes for long-term success and results
A Registered Dietitian can help with:
- Weight management: improved weight gain or weight loss, depending on individual goals
- Improved management of chronic disease, such as diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol
- Improved feeding and gastrointestinal tolerance associated with bowel disorders (irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, celiac disease)
- Decreased risk for complications associated with medical condition, such as anemia, gout and hypoglycemia
- Family nutrition including child and adolescent growth and development
Insurance and Provider Orders
We accept Medicare and most major insurance plans, including BlueCross BlueShield of NC. All provider-directed outpatient referrals for dietitian services should be faxed to 919.708.4610.
