Kenneth A. Thompson, DO, Joins Central Carolina Hospital

Central Carolina Hospital is pleased to announce that Kenneth A. Thompson, DO, has joined Central Carolina Women’s Health Center and is now offering obstetrical and gynecological services to patients throughout Sanford and surrounding areas.
“Dr. Thompson has more than 25 years of experience as an obstetrician and gynecologist,” said Chris Fensterle, Chief Executive Officer of Central Carolina Hospital, a Duke LifePoint Hospital. “He has made significant contributions to his profession and to the communities where he has practiced medicine, from Pennsylvania to Virginia to Illinois to South Carolina. We are very fortunate to have him as a member of our medical staff.”
Central Carolina Hospital provides a five-bed Labor and Delivery Unit with an adjacent Level 2 newborn nursery. The hospital also offers a wide range of women’s health services, from mammography and ultrasound to diagnosing and treating gynecological and pelvic health concerns.
Dr. Thompson joins Central Carolina Hospital from Conway Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Prior to that, he was with Community Health Systems in Cheraw, South Carolina.
Dr. Thompson received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his general medicine internship and residency in obstetrics/gynecology with Saint Luke Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
