Shanwelle James Named Director of Health Information Management
October 28, 2026
Shanwelle James has been named Director of Health Information Management at Central Carolina Hospital (CCH).
James joined the team at CCH about a year ago, helping patients navigate the documentation side of healthcare.
“My favorite part of working at CCH is the culture,” said James.
For James, serving the community is one of the most rewarding parts of her work. She especially values opportunities to educate patients, answer questions and help them better understand healthcare paperwork.
James particularly enjoys serving as a notary, visiting patients in their rooms to notarize documents such as powers of attorney and living wills. The hospital offers this service at no charge to patients during their stay—a resource she says many patients may not know is available.
James began her healthcare career at 21 as a behavioral health technician and has worked in and out of the medical field since then, including in medical records. She is now continuing her education toward earning her Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential.
Originally from Wallace, North Carolina, James has called Sanford home since 2011. She is a mother of three boys, ages 20, 18 and 5. A self-described “nerd,” she enjoys unwinding with role-playing games (RPGs) when she has time to herself.
Please join us in congratulating James on her new role!
