Central Carolina Hospital (CCH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Peggy Blackburn as Director of Plant Operations, HSO & Security. Blackburn officially assumed the role on June 14, 2026, after serving as interim director and helping guide the department through a period of transition.
A familiar face to many throughout the organization, Blackburn brings nearly three decades of experience at Central Carolina Hospital. Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of roles across patient care, administration and operations, giving her a unique perspective on the people, processes and teamwork that support exceptional patient care.
In her new role, Blackburn oversees plant operations, safety and security functions that help ensure a safe, reliable environment for patients, visitors, physicians and employees. Her extensive knowledge of hospital operations, combined with her dedication to the organization, has earned the respect of colleagues across the hospital.
Blackburn says the people at Central Carolina Hospital are one of the reasons she has enjoyed building her career here.
“I love the staff and the friendly environment we have here at CCH” Blackburn said. “My favorite part of the job is helping create a safe environment for our patients, visitors and employees.”
Since stepping into a leadership role within the department, Blackburn has helped oversee facility operations, environmental safety initiatives and security functions that support the hospital's mission. Her appointment as director reflects both her successful leadership during the transition period and her longstanding commitment to Central Carolina Hospital.
"Peggy has earned the respect of colleagues throughout the hospital through her dedication, knowledge and willingness to serve wherever she is needed," said Dave Santoemma, CEO. " Her leadership during this transition reflects the dedication, professionalism and commitment that have defined her career at Central Carolina Hospital. We are pleased to officially welcome her into this role and look forward to the continued leadership and experience she will bring to our organization."
Blackburn says she has learned a great deal since joining facility operations and continues to embrace new opportunities to grow.
"I've learned a lot, but I still have a lot to learn," she said. "I'm in a completely different role than what I ever thought I'd be doing, but I've enjoyed the challenges and opportunities that have come with it."
Outside of work, Blackburn enjoys spending time with family, making memories that she treasures. She especially enjoys spending time outdoors, whether relaxing at the beach, exploring the mountains, enjoying nature, or visiting Kiwanis Park with her grandson. She also appreciates a good book when she has the opportunity to slow down and unwind.
As she begins this new chapter as Director of Plant Operations, HSO & Security, Blackburn remains focused on what has motivated her throughout her career: supporting a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff while helping Central Carolina Hospital continue to serve the community with excellence.
