Free Prostate Cancer Screening

Central Carolina Hospital offers free PSA screenings to men 50+ and to younger men who have high risk factors. Risk factors include:

  • Age (65+)
  • Family History (father or brother with prostate cancer)
  • Race (African American men have a higher risk than other races)

Though prostate cancer is less common* in men under 40, we are happy to screen any adult male who is concerned about his specific risk factors. *[Probability for prostate cancer in men under age 40 is 1 in 19,299 men: statistics from the National Cancer Institute - www.cancer.gov]

The screening consists of a blood test (a tube of blood will be drawn from your arm), and your prostate specific antigen (PSA) will be measured. Results are mailed the following week.

Men who are currently undergoing treatment for prostate cancer are not eligible for this screening.
