Central Carolina Hospital offers free preventive screenings for prostate cancer four times a year in conjunction with the Prostate Cancer Support Group of Lee County. The screenings include a prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood test. Results are mailed the following week.
All men are welcome, but those strongly encouraged to participate in this screening include:
- Men 50 years of age or older
- African American men 45 years of age or older, and
- Men 45 years of age or older who have a brother or father who has had prostate cancer
Men who are currently undergoing treatment for prostate cancer are not eligible for this screening.
Please mark your calendar to attend one of these events:
- Thursday, August 28th, 2008 - BOOMER/SENIOR/CAREGIVER EXPO at the Wicker Civic Center. Time: 10am - 2:30pm (the last PSA will be performed at 2:00pm).
- Saturday, September 20th, 2008 - CCH/PCSGLC ANNUAL SCREENING DAY at the Enrichment Center of Lee County. Time: 7am - 12noon (the last PSA will be performed at 11:55am)
- November 2008 - Date/Time TBA - CCCC & Lee County School System Health & Benefits Fair at the Wicker Civic Center.
- Friday, May 2009 - Date/Time TBA - Relay for Life
