Central Carolina Hospital Appoints New CEO

Central Carolina Hospital has announced the appointment of Dale Armstrong as the new chief executive officer of the facility, effective immediately.  With more than 25 years of health care experience, Armstrong will be responsible for all strategic, operational and clinical activities at the hospital.

“Dale has a solid background in building strong relationships with physicians and employees, creating and expanding complex services, and improving quality and processes while increasing operational efficiencies,” said Greg Burfitt, senior vice president, operations for Tenet HealthSystem’s Southern States Region.  “Dale’s knowledge of the local health care environment is also a benefit.”

Most recently Armstrong served as the chief operating officer of Central Carolina Hospital.  He has been responsible for all daily operational activities while being involved in the hospital’s key initiatives, strategic planning, business development and physician relations.  Armstrong is directly responsible for the $7 Million expansion and renovation project to enhance women’s services.

Prior to that, Armstrong was the regional chief executive officer for Ramsey Healthcare, Inc.  In this position, Armstrong oversaw the development and operations of the Brynn Marr Healthcare System of the Carolinas in Jacksonville, North Carolina.  While at Brynn Marr Hospital, he increased bed utilization from 52% to 90%.  Armstrong also served as the chief executive officer of Charter Hospital of Bradenton in Bradenton, Florida, where he directed the turnaround of this 60-bed psychiatric and substance abuse hospital.

Armstrong holds a bachelor’s of science degree in medical technology from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and a master’s in business administration from the University of Georgia at Valdosta.
